Joe Bryant – One of Cumberland County’s most skilled athletes

Joe Bryant

One of Cumberland County’s most skilled athletes. Joe scored over 900 points in his basketball career and was selected to the all 16th district team in both 1967 and 1968. Before the 1968 season the regions coaches selected Joe as the best player in the 16th district and the 4th best player in the 4th region. As a football player Joe started at quarterback and lead the young Panther program to it’s first victory in school history. During his days as quarterback Joe set the school record for passes completed and yards gained in a single game. Joe was a pitcher and first baseman on the baseball team, and was a member of Cumberland County’s first district champion baseball team in 1966.

1979-1981 CCHS Boys Varsity Cheerleaders

One of the greatest groups of cheerleaders in Cumberland County High School history. In 1979 they won the 16th district championship, the 4th Region championship and finished 15th in the state competition. They were the first squad in school history to qualify for the state competition. In 1980 they repeated as 16th district and 4th region champs and finished 3rd in the state competition. And finally, in 1981 the Panther cheerleaders won their 3rd consecutive district and region championships and finished the state competition as state runners up in 2nd place.

Patrick Hamilton, Basketball player

Patrick Hamilton

With over 1,400 points for his career Patrick was one of the highest scoring guards in Cumberland County basketball history. In 2000 Patrick averaged over 20 points per game, lead the team in assists and was chosen for the all 16th district team, the Class A 4th region all tournament team and was voted team MVP. In 2001 Patrick was ranked in the top ten scorers in the state of Kentucky, averaging over 26 points per game. In 2001 Patrick was once again lead the team in assists, was voted the teams MVP and was chosen for the all 16th district team, the Class A all 4th region tournament team, the regular season all 4th region team and was an honorable mention all state selection. Patrick was also a track star, qualifying for the state track meet in the 400M relay, 800M relay and long jump in 2000 and the long jump and triple jump in 2001.

Bill Norris - Bill was a 3 year starter for the Cumberland County basketball team in the early 1960’s

Bill was a 3 year starter for the Cumberland County basketball team in the early 1960’s, leading the team in scoring and being named team captain his junior and senior years. In 1961 he was selected to the coaches preseason all 5th region team and earned all district and all regional tournament team honors. He was also named to the all southern Kentucky team by the Park City Daily News. In 1962 Bill was once again selected to the coaches preseason all 5th region team and earned all district honors for the season. For his career Bill scored 1,090 points. After graduation Bill received a basketball scholarship to Campbellsville University.

Jenny Norris (Boyett) – Jenny was a great basketball player for the Cumberland County Lady Panthers in the early 1990’s

Jenny Norris (Boyett)

Jenny was a great basketball player for the Cumberland County Lady Panthers in the early 1990’s. She was named to the 16th district all district team in 1991. But tract was the sport where Jenny truly excelled. In 1990 Jenny won the sectional and regional meets in the 300 meter low hurdles. She then finished 5th in the state in this event. In 1991 Jenny again placed first in both the sectional and regional meets in the 300 meter low hurdles. And then, in the state competition, Jenny finished as state runner-up in 2nd place in the 300 meter low hurdles. At her graduation Jenny was her class salutatorian and was selected to receive the US Army scholar athlete award.
